VideoLAN has finally launched the VLC Media Player Beta for Android, a popular cross-platform multimedia player available for download in Play store.
This is a Beta version and still not stable hence will be slower than the final version which will also come with a new UI, Performance improvements and more. This particular version is only for devices running an ARMv7 CPU that will support NEON. Other devices will be supported soon.

- Audio and video media library, with full search.
- Support for network streams, including HLS.
- Supports Android from version 2.1 (platform-7).
- Supports ARMv6, ARMv7 and ARMv7+NEON.
- Subtitles support, embedded and external, including ASS and DVD subtitles.
- Multi audio or subtitles tracks selection.
- Multi-core decoding, for Cortex-A7 A9 and A15 chips.
- Experimental hardware decoding.
- Gestures, headphones control.
There might be some audio issues and hardware decoding only works on select devices.
